The half of the Panda Base that opened on 1 January 2022: 2,535 mu of new hillside enclosures — 'Infinite Hills' with four panda houses and 'Adventure Creek Valley' with seven — reached through the West Gate, plus the Panda Tower, the base's lookout over the city, which is free with an online slot. Same ticket as the original zone, different gate, different metro stop, and its own visitor centre. The base itself recommends this gate for shorter queues; the mistake foreign visitors make is arriving at the wrong one and losing an hour crossing.

Beat the crowds
The base's own Spring Festival advice: come by public transport to the West Gate — entry queues are shorter than at the South Gate. Do the tower first thing or at the end; it caps at 200 people inside and pauses admission.
