The 15-metre panda hauling itself over the parapet of the IFS mall on Hongxing Road is the most photographed object in central Chengdu. It is 'I Am Here' by the artist Lawrence Argent, unveiled when Wharf's Chengdu International Finance Square opened on 14 January 2014; the mall's own press release put a sculpture garden and an art gallery on the seventh floor and a 'heritage plaza' on the ground floor. Two pictures to get: the rear end from the street below (Hongxing Road / Dacisi Road corner), and the face from the seventh-floor terrace — you have to go inside and up for that one.

Beat the crowds

The street corner below the panda is a photo queue on weekend evenings; the 7F terrace is emptiest at opening time (10:00) and on weekday afternoons.
