Crown Escalator
A 112 m escalator at 30° that has hauled people 52.7 m up from the old Caiyuanba railway station to Lianglukou since February 1996 — 2 minutes 30 seconds of ride, three escalators (up, down, spare); the 'Asia's second longest' tag comes from the listings, not from the operator's page. Run by the same company as the Yangtze cableway: 8:00-20:00 daily, extended to 21:00 on some holidays (operator). The fare is ¥2 a ride on every listing and in the city's own 2023 notice — the operator's page does not print it.
Walk up and pay at the gate; cash, a phone payment or a transit card on the listings. The operator's holiday notice (city government relaying it, 2023) says the escalator's same-day tickets go on sale at 7:30 through on-site staff, the self-service machines, the cableway's WeChat official account and authorised Ctrip / Tongcheng — and that 'no other channel is authorised to sell tickets'. No advance sale, no booking needed.Verified · 2023-04Source ↗
Valid ID required; passport handling is unconfirmed. The operator publishes no ID requirement for the ¥2 ride — its own page, the city's relays of its notices and the 2008 price ruling all say nothing about documents. The one document case is the city's 65-and-over free-transit card (or the Yukuai code / a 'transport union' social security card), which the transport commission lists as valid on this escalator: it is issued on a Chinese ID card, plus a Chongqing residence permit for non-local holders, so a visitor cannot get one.
Gate at either end → pay ¥2 → ride. Cash, a phone payment or a transit card on the listings; the operator does not print its payment methods.
Commuters 7:30-9:00 and 17:00-19:00 on weekdays; tourists on the weekend afternoon. A holiday queue moves fast — the escalator carries up to 13,000 an hour by design (operator).
