Dazu Rock Carvings Museum and the digital cinema
Two things that are easy to miss in the rush to the cliff. The museum, opened on 13 June 2015, the day the Thousand-Hand Guanyin was unveiled, sits on the Baodingshan loop between the guide hall and Dafowan and is covered by the Baodingshan ticket: some 500 stone pieces from the 75 protected Dazu sites, the heads recovered after thefts, and the story of the eight-year Guanyin restoration — 40 minutes that make the cliff legible. The digital cinema is a different thing: two films (《天下大足》 and 《大足石刻》) on an 8K dome and a 4K widescreen at the visitor centre, ¥80 extra, seven screenings a day from 9:30, ten on holidays.
No separate museum ticket — it is inside the Baodingshan loop, so the Baodingshan rules apply (WeChat for Chinese ID, visitor-centre window for passports). Film tickets: sold as a ¥80 add-on or in the official bundles (Baodingshan + film + shuttle ¥170 peak / ¥165 low) at the visitor centreVerified · 2025-04Source ↗
Official English guided tour ¥260 per session for the museum alone, ¥480 with Baodingshan (published fee list). Whether the digital films carry English subtitles is not published — ask at the cinema desk before paying ¥80.
