Huangjueping Graffiti Street and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute
In 2007 the district and the art college painted 37 apartment blocks along 1.25 km of Yangjiu Road between the railway hospital and the 501 art warehouse (800 workers, students and artists, 150 days, 12.5 tonnes of paint) and called it the largest graffiti work in China. It has been repainted twice since, in 2021 (facades reproducing Luo Zhongli, Zhang Xiaogang and other Sichuan Fine Arts Institute names) and from 2025, when the district split the street into a free-graffiti zone, a restricted zone and a look-only zone and published a map. It is a public road, open all hours, two million visitors a year, with the Jiaotong Teahouse in a sunken lane off it and the old campus of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute at its end — which lets the public in with an ID document, and, for foreigners, 'valid documents registered at the gate' during the June graduation show.
Street: none. Campus: ID-card gate or 'Ping'an Chuanmei' (平安川美) WeChat registration; foreigners register at the gate with a passport (college notice, June 2026 show). Art museum: book on the '四川美院美术馆' WeChat official accountVerified · 2026-05Source ↗
Passport required; see details for entry handling. Street: none. Campus gates scan Chinese ID cards; 'Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan compatriots and foreigners enter by registering valid documents at the gate' (college, May 2026) — passport. Art museum: entry needs the booking code plus a Chinese ID card (museum page); passports are not named — bring it and ask at the desk
The street is busiest on weekend afternoons with the teahouse crowd; weekday mornings you have the walls to yourself. The June graduation show ('Open June', late May to late June) is the one time the campus is a destination — and the one time it queues; go on a weekday, or use the Friday-Saturday 18:30-20:30 night sessions — those need a separate booking on the art museum's WeChat mini-program, released three days ahead.
