'Fuzimiao' means two things, and the difference costs money. It is the whole old-south-city precinct on the Qinhuai River — streets, bridges, shops, the Jiangnan Examination Hall — which you walk into for free; and it is the Confucius Temple itself, whose main hall, the Dacheng Hall, is ¥30. The temple was founded in 1034, rebuilt in 1869, burned by the Japanese army in 1937 and rebuilt again from 1984, so what you see is a late-20th-century reconstruction on the old plan (Qinhuai district government).
EntranceFuzimiao station (Line 3), then walk south to Gongyuan Street; on listed holidays there are 6 code-check gates: the East, West and North Paifang arches, the Wende and Wenyuan bridges, and Jinling Road
