The Republican layer of Nanjing in one climb. Sun Yat-sen, leader of the 1911 revolution and first provisional president of the Republic of China, was buried here in June 1929, and the tomb was built to be walked up: from the archway at the bottom to the sacrificial hall at the top is 700 m on the level and 70 m of height, 392 granite steps and ten landings, all under blue glazed tiles. Admission is free, but only with a real-name booking for a time slot.
EntranceBooked visitors go through the east or west booking checkpoints (中山陵东 / 西预约检录口). Metro Line 2 to Xiamafang (下马坊), then the scenic-area shuttle to the Zhongshan Ling South stop, bus 34 or the footpath; or Xiaolingwei (孝陵卫), then the shuttle to the Zhongshan Ling (Zijinshan Road) stop. The shuttle from Muxuyuan (苜蓿园) does not run towards the mausoleum during the daytime control hours (09:00-17:00 on weekdays, 08:30-17:30 at weekends and on public holidays) - from there you walk to the Meiling Palace (Shichao Culture Park) stop and change
