The 69th floor of Shun Hing Square on Shennan East Road - billed as Asia's tallest building when it topped out in 1996, and the only observation deck in Shenzhen that made the city's list of graded scenic spots (3A). The operator lists 89 yuan full price, 45 yuan for children 1.2-1.5 m and over-65s, 09:00-21:00 with last admission 20:30; ticket sales and online-ticket exchange stop at 20:20. What you get for the money is not a glass floor or a skywalk but a themed exhibition floor - fifteen zones on Shenzhen and Hong Kong, built in the 1990s and still recognisably of that decade - wrapped around a 360-degree window.

Before you goYou are paying for a 1990s theme floor with a very good window, not for a modern observation deck. The fifteen zones - 'a century of Shenzhen and Hong Kong', 'looking south to Hong Kong', 'pirate legend' and so on - were designed when this was billed as the tallest building in Asia, and they have aged; if you want engineering spectacle, Ping An in Futian is 200 m higher. What Diwang has is the position: it stands at the Luohu end of Shennan Road, so the view south is the border and the New Territories rather than more of Shenzhen. Go late enough to get the lights and early enough to get in - last admission is 20:30, and both ticket sales and online-ticket exchange stop at 20:20. On a hazy or wet day there is no point; the operator's own advice line is 0755-8246 2232, staffed 10:30-20:30. The deck has no published policy on foreign passports: the child fares go by height and need no document (45 yuan for 1.2-1.5 m, free under 1.2 m), but the senior and other concessions ask for Chinese ID or certificates, so adults should budget the full 89 yuan.
