The station for the rest of China, and the one most people mean when they say 'the high-speed station'. It sits in Longhua where the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong and Xiamen-Shenzhen lines meet: built from October 2008, finished in December 2011, 180,000 sqm, a roof 410 m east to west shaped to read as a dragon's head. Under the July 2026 timetable it runs 848 high-speed departures a day against 246 at Shenzhen station and 216 at Futian.

Before you goRead your ticket before you pick a station. Shenzhen has four and the Chinese names differ by a character or two: Shenzhen North here in Longhua is the national high-speed hub; Futian is the underground station closest to the city centre and the fastest to Hong Kong West Kowloon; Shenzhen (Luohu) runs both bullet and conventional trains; Shenzhen East at Buji handles conventional trains. Getting it wrong costs an hour across town. Here, the second decision is which square: exits A1/A2 put you on the east square for metro, bus and taxi, B1/B2 on the west for ride-hailing and private cars, and the two are on different sides of the station, so the wrong exit means a detour - A2 is the shorter one for the taxi rank. The taxi queue on the east square is genuinely long at peak, and between 23:30 and 06:00 a trip from the rank adds a flat 5 yuan on top of the night surcharge. Drivers touting on the roads around the west square are not part of the licensed queue - the transport bureau logged over 900 illegally waiting taxis on Zhiyuan Middle Road in ten months of 2023.
