The 680-hectare park built for 2008 as the green end of the axis — a made landscape of lake, wetland and the artificial 'Yangshan' hill that the Central Axis plan aims at. It has a 10 km running loop, the city's most used, and a north half across the Fifth Ring that most visitors never reach. Free, no ticket, the athletes' 'back garden' of the Games turned into Beijing's biggest public park in October 2008 (tourism-bureau page).
EntranceLine 8 Forest Park South Gate station, Exit B, opens at the south gate; Line 15 Olympic Green (Aolinpike Gongyuan) also serves the east side; the north park is reached by the footbridge over the Fifth Ring from the south park
