The lane one block north of the Confucius Temple that did what Nanluoguxiang did a decade earlier and stopped before it became a food court: 600 m of low grey houses with small cafés, a vegetarian restaurant, a few design shops and a lot of residents, running from Yonghegong St west to Andingmen Inner St. The natural third stop after the Lama Temple and the Imperial College, and the place in this district to sit down.

Busy only on weekend afternoons, and even then it is café-busy, not Nanluoguxiang-busy. Weekday mornings most doors are shut until 10:00 or 11:00.
Cafés and shops mostly have English menus; the lane has a bilingual street plaque and no other interpretation.
