Panda Base + Sanxingdui in One Day?
Decide whether you can make the Panda Base and Sanxingdui one coherent day. It works only with the right panda entrance, an early exit and a confirmed midday transfer; miss one of those and the plan becomes a race.
The short answer
Buy a morning Panda Base ticket and be at the gate when it opens (7:30 from 16 Mar to 31 Oct, 8:00 in winter); leave by the West Gate before 12:00; a midday direct coach to Sanxingdui leaves from there (departure and fare differ between channels, confirm with the ticket seller that day), or take a taxi of about an hour at the app fare; spend the afternoon in the new Sanxingdui hall; return by train from Sanxingdui station, about 18 minutes to Chengdu East.
Tickets drop at 20:00 daily, five days ahead — secure Sanxingdui first, then the pandas. If it sells out, July–August and holidays have evening tickets from 17:00; otherwise split into two days and use the Chengdu East → Sanxingdui train.
The nursery is in the old area by the South Gate, but the coach leaves from the West Gate; the base does not publish the walk between gates, so do not plan on crossing the park to catch it — either taxi from the South Gate or skip the nursery and use the West Gate.
In the heat pandas go indoors and the base caps entry; Sanxingdui is harder to book and may open late; re-check the coach timetable and 12306 before you set off.
