Chengdu's nightlife address: the south-bank riverside from the Jiuyanqiao road bridge west to Anshun Covered Bridge, plus the 'Lan Kwai Fong Chengdu' terrace complex on the opposite bank by Shuijingfang — a kilometre of bars, clubs, hookah lounges and rooftop terraces facing the lit river. The bridge that names it is a 1988 concrete road bridge; the Ming original (1593, nine arches, hence 'nine-eye') was pulled down in 1992 and a stone replica stands 1.9 km downstream outside Wangjianglou Park's south gate. Free street, no tickets; runs from early evening to 2:00, loudest Friday-Saturday, with a holiday-night problem of touts and 'drinks-bill' scams that the city itself warns about.

Beat the crowds
Dead before 20:00, packed 22:00-1:00 on Friday-Saturday and every holiday eve; a weeknight is a different, quieter street. Terraces at Lan Kwai Fong take walk-ins early.
