Sichuan Science and Technology Museum
The big free science museum at the north end of Tianfu Square — the former provincial exhibition hall behind the Mao statue, three floors of hands-on physics, a Sichuan-themed floor (the Dujiangyan irrigation model is the useful one before a day trip), a dome cinema and a children's zone. It is the family fallback of the district, and the catch is the booking: free tickets are released online at 17:00 for three days ahead, 8,000 a day (the museum's notice of December 2025, as relayed by a listing), real-name, and the platforms say passports work — the museum's own site shows almost no text from abroad, though it does publish the hours and address.
Free real-name booking via the museum's WeChat official account or the 'Tianfu Science Cloud' app, released daily at 17:00 for the next three days, 8,000 a day; up to 4 people per WeChat official account, one booking per ID per day, at most two entries a day; official system piao.scstm.com; enquiries 028-86609999Secondhand source
Real-name entry; passport handling is unconfirmed. Real-name. A museum notice relayed by a listings site says foreign visitors 'may enter passport or foreign permanent-residence card details' — we could not reach the ticketing system to verify it; treat passport booking as unconfirmed until someone has done it
Weekend and holiday slots go at the 17:00 release; weekday afternoons are open. Children under 1.4 m need an adult; one adult may bring two booked children.
Exhibit labels are largely bilingual on the science floors; the site's English pages could not be loaded.
