Chongqing's city-planning museum in its 2022 home: a converted car-park structure under a great curving roof on Danzishi Square, facing the confluence, with the huge scale model of the central city, a 'fly over Chongqing' theatre, a walk-through of the four historic city walls and a floor of district-by-district plans — the fastest way to understand why this city stacks the way it does. Free; Tuesday to Sunday 9:00-17:00, last entry 16:30, closed Mondays (museum notice). Reservations were dropped in July 2024 with the city-wide order; the museum's own visitor rules now contain no booking clause.
EntranceLoop line 'Danzishi', then bus 373/375 one stop to 'Nanbin Road ICBC' or walk 10-15 minutes down through Danzishi Old Street to the square (museum transport page)
