The 45-minute loop from the Chaotianmen piers up the Jialing past Hongyadong and the Grand Theatre, round the confluence and along the Yangtze past Huguang Guild Hall and the cableway — 'not to see the night view is not to have been to Chongqing', as the tourism bureau puts it. Three licensed companies run it (Changjiang Shipping, the Municipal Passenger Ship Co. and Huidong Shipping, per the bureau's FAQ), each with its own WeChat service account.
EntranceLine 1 Chaotianmen station, or Line 1 / 6 Xiaoshizi station (platforms disagree on the exit — 4A, 6 or 9), then down to the riverside road; the pier number is on your ticket

How to book
Operators' WeChat official accounts (重庆邮轮中心 / 重庆交运两江游 / 重庆长航两江游 / 重庆汇东船务两江游), pier self-service machines, or authorised OTAs (Ctrip, Meituan, Qunar…) — tourism bureau list; never a street sellerVerified · 2018-06Source ↗
ID details
Passport required; see details for entry handling. Real-name since 1 November 2018 (trial; formal from 1 January 2019 — municipal transport bureau via Xinhua / gov.cn): one person, one ticket, one document matching the booking; a passport is a valid document under the Ministry of Transport's waterway real-name rules (Order No. 77 of 2016, art. 17); children under 1.2 m ride free off-holiday but need a ticket on public holidays
Paying on site
Three companies, three piers — Hongyadong pier, Chaotianmen No. 7 and No. 9 — and which boat leaves from which changes by season (2025 platform pages put 交运's boats and Changhang's 'Chaotianmen' boat at Hongyadong pier, the 'Chaotian Xinghe / Haoyue' at No. 7 and the 汇东 'Jinbi' boats at No. 9): read the pier on your ticket. Tickets are valid on any boat of the same company that night, not on another company's.
Beat the crowds
Same-day tickets are the norm ('in principle bought on the day'), so buy in the afternoon on the operator's account for a 19:30-20:00 boat — the first sailings after lights-on sell out on holidays, and holiday tickets are non-refundable.
Language
Commentary on board is Chinese, loud, and on the newer boats bilingual ('Chinese-English audio commentary' is advertised for the Chaotian Haoyue); nothing at the piers is in English.
