The 1380 five-storey tower on the Ming wall at the top of Yuexiu Park, the city's museum since 1929: floor by floor from prehistory to the Republic, and from the fifth floor the reason it was built — the view south over the old city to the river. ¥10, closed Mondays, no booking since July 2024 — buy on the museum's WeChat official account 智慧广博 or at the ticket office; the free Zhongyuan Tower annexe next door has the export-porcelain and Canton-trade art. The museum's website was behind a maintenance page from abroad when we checked (September 2026), so hours below are from the city government's museum list and the district's copy of the museum page.

Beat the crowds
Weekday mornings at opening: the tower's stairs are narrow and groups arrive from 10:00. Late afternoon light is best from the top floor but the last entry is 17:30.

Not published on reachable pages. The 'City Emblem, City History' permanent exhibition is Chinese with English headings as far as earlier reports go; treat English depth as unconfirmed.
