The 60-70-minute loop that every visitor is sold: past Canton Tower, under Liede and Haixin bridges, along the lit CBD and, from the older piers, the colonial waterfront of Yanjiang Road. There is no single operator. Canton Tower's own company (Guangzhou Chenggang Tourism) sails from Fortune Pier two minutes from the tower's east plaza and sells at six walk-up windows, on Ctrip/Qunar/Meituan and in its WeChat mini-program; Tianzi Pier and Dashatou near Beijing Road are the old-line piers with the most sailings.

ID details
Real-name entry; passport handling is unconfirmed. Real-name boarding — 'bring a valid document' (local listing); which documents each pier accepts is not published. The tower operator's pages say nothing about passports
Paying on site
Walk to a pier window with your passport, pick the next sailing, pay; or buy on Ctrip/Meituan and redeem the QR/ticket at that pier's window before boarding (tower operator's page names the platforms; redemption details are not published).
Beat the crowds
The 19:00-21:00 boats are the crush on holiday nights; the first sailing after dark (about 18:30-19:00 in winter, 19:30 in summer) gets the lights with a shorter queue. Same-day tickets at the Fortune Pier windows are the simplest route with a passport.
Language
On-board commentary is in Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese); no English audio is advertised by any operator page we read.
