The 1900s-1930s campus of the American-founded Canton Christian College (Lingnan University) — red-brick halls with green-tile roofs under banyans on the south bank, the finest surviving Western college campus in south China, now the main campus of Sun Yat-sen University. Since September 2023 the public can enter only on weekends, public holidays and vacation days, by real-name reservation on the WeChat mini-program '中大逸码通行', released seven days ahead at 20:00. The university's rules say the mini-program 'currently supports only PRC ID cards' — foreign nationals are told to 'contact a host unit on campus'.

Real-name on a PRC ID card; the rules say the mini-program 'currently supports only PRC resident ID' and that foreign nationals, HK/Macau/Taiwan and groups 'should contact a host unit on campus' — no passport path is published; the practical route for a passport holder is an invitation: the university's IT centre says staff and students 'may themselves initiate a booking for outside visitors within 3 days, up to 3 visitors per person per day', on any day
Paying on site
WeChat → '中大逸码通行' → 个人中心 fill name / ID number / phone → 预约 → choose campus and slot → at the south gate scan the gate's QR to show the entry pass → show ID → enter; 'leave confirmation' at exit.
Beat the crowds
If you do get in: the 9:00 slot on a Saturday is quiet; Sunday afternoons and the March bloom of the Bauhinia avenue bring local families and wedding photographers.
Language
The mini-program and notices are Chinese-only; the campus has bilingual building plaques.
