Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum
The 1927 Ohel Moshe Synagogue and the museum of over 4,000 m² built around it in 2020. It tells how some 20,000 Jewish refugees from Europe reached Shanghai and how, from February 1943, the 'stateless refugees' were confined to a designated area of Hongkou — with a wall of 18,578 researched names. For European and North American visitors this is the most personally connected museum in the city, and one of the easiest to visit: a real official website in English, posted holiday hours, an on-site ticket desk that accepts passports, and a ¥20 ticket.
Ticket desk on site (real-name, show ID), or optionally online via Meituan, Dianping or Ctrip. Free scheduled tours in Chinese at 10:00 and 14:00; audio guide ¥10; groups of 20+ book paid guiding 3-5 working days ahead (021-55133186)Verified · 2026-04Source ↗
The free scheduled tours at 10:00 and 14:00 are in Chinese (official guide); the ¥10 audio guide's languages are not listed. English volunteer guiding was announced in 2023 — ask at the desk; it is not guaranteed. Entrance-hall texts are bilingual; full English labelling throughout is not confirmed
