The metro-to-metro crossing: MTR East Rail to Lok Ma Chau, 240 m across a two-level covered bridge (116 m on the Shenzhen side, 124 m on the Hong Kong side, upper deck outbound, lower deck inbound), and you step straight onto Shenzhen Metro Line 4. The port office lists it as 06:30-22:30 with 146 inspection lanes. Two traps.

Before you goWork backwards from the Hong Kong timetable, not from the port's. The crossing closes at 22:30, but the last East Rail train towards Lok Ma Chau leaves Admiralty at 21:29 and Hung Hom at 21:35, and Lok Ma Chau station itself closes at 23:05 - so from central Hong Kong your real deadline is half past nine, not half past ten. Lok Ma Chau sits inside Hong Kong's closed border area: outside the station there is only a taxi rank, green minibus 75 and bus B1. Do not plan a 240-hour visa-free transit entry here - the eligible-port table attached to the National Immigration Administration's 2025 announcement lists Bao'an airport, Shekou port and the West Kowloon high-speed station for this region, and no Shenzhen land crossing. And do not confuse this with Futian Station: that is the underground high-speed railway station about 2.9 km north in the CBD, and the two are not walkable from each other. Something wrong here? No ticket. Metro Line 4 starts here; tap a Visa/Mastercard/Amex/JCB/UnionPay card straight on the gate - every Shenzhen Metro gate has taken foreign cards since 10 September 2026 (city transport bureau).
