The only place to see the Tang capital's wall from the inside: when the west stretch of the Ming wall was cut for Hanguang Men in the 1980s, the excavation found the Tang imperial city's gate of 582 — three rammed-earth passages, the road surfaces and a cross-section of the wall's layers from Sui to Ming — and the museum was built over it inside the wall itself. It is entered from the wall top on the west side and is covered by the wall ticket; the operator lists it under the wall's museums, with the same gate hours (8:00-20:00 at Hanguang Men by platform listings). Twenty minutes that explain what the wall you are standing on is built on.
