The Yuzhong Peninsula in Half a Day
Choose one downhill half of the Yuzhong Peninsula: Eling and Liziba, or Shibati and Huguang Guild Hall. The slopes and cross-town travel punish checklist planning, so commit to one side instead of zigzagging across the peninsula.
The short answer
Pick one half and walk it downhill. West, afternoon into dusk: Line 1 Eling exit 2A → about 10 minutes up to Eling Park and the Kansheng Tower → 5 minutes east to Erchang → the stairs behind the Liziba platform, 10-15 minutes down → Line 2 from Liziba back toward Jiaochangkou. East, a morning: Line 1/2 Jiaochangkou → down the Shibati stairs → Line 1/6 Xiaoshizi and 10 minutes downhill to the Huguang Guild Hall → the Dongshuimen Bridge pavement beside it. With a full day, east in the morning, west in the afternoon, and Hongyadong after dark.
Only the Huguang Guild Hall has a ticket, and it is bought at the gate — the city dropped bookings for A-level spots on 25 July 2024. ¥25 on the city's list, ¥32 on platforms; the gate price is the answer, and sales end at 17:00. Liziba, Erchang, Eling Park, Shibati and the bridge are free and unfenced. The only booked thing nearby is the Eling Boardwalk, where passports book at the visitor service point.
The Huguang Guild Hall's museum galleries are closed (the courtyards and stages stay open and the ticket is still sold), the Erchang Memory Museum is closed, the Eling Boardwalk is shut and the Three Gorges Museum is closed. The free yards, the park, the Liziba platform and the Shibati stairs are unaffected — walk the west half on a Monday.
Liziba: before 9:00 or after 17:00 for a clear rail — tour buses arrive from mid-morning — and not in a downpour, since the platform has no roof. Erchang: photographers fill the railings 15:00-19:00, weekday mornings are empty. Kansheng Tower: look at the sky first; fog from November to February turns the view grey. Huguang: weekday mornings, not weekends 10:00-12:00.
The district police expect the streets round Liziba, Erchang and Eling Park to jam 8:00-19:00 and keep tour coaches off them; Changbin Road from the guild hall to Chaotianmen and the Dongshuimen Bridge's Nan'an-to-Yuzhong carriageway close to cars 16:00-24:00. Come by metro and walk — on a holiday the crowd, not the cars, is the problem.
