The Yuzhong Peninsula in Half a Day

Decision5 compared
THE YUZHONG PENINSULA IN HALF A DAY · CHONGQING

Choose one downhill half of the Yuzhong Peninsula: Eling and Liziba, or Shibati and Huguang Guild Hall. The slopes and cross-town travel punish checklist planning, so commit to one side instead of zigzagging across the peninsula.

The short answer

Ifyou are planning the orderthen

Pick one half and walk it downhill. West, afternoon into dusk: Line 1 Eling exit 2A → about 10 minutes up to Eling Park and the Kansheng Tower → 5 minutes east to Erchang → the stairs behind the Liziba platform, 10-15 minutes down → Line 2 from Liziba back toward Jiaochangkou. East, a morning: Line 1/2 Jiaochangkou → down the Shibati stairs → Line 1/6 Xiaoshizi and 10 minutes downhill to the Huguang Guild Hall → the Dongshuimen Bridge pavement beside it. With a full day, east in the morning, west in the afternoon, and Hongyadong after dark.

Ifyou are bookingthen

Only the Huguang Guild Hall has a ticket, and it is bought at the gate — the city dropped bookings for A-level spots on 25 July 2024. ¥25 on the city's list, ¥32 on platforms; the gate price is the answer, and sales end at 17:00. Liziba, Erchang, Eling Park, Shibati and the bridge are free and unfenced. The only booked thing nearby is the Eling Boardwalk, where passports book at the visitor service point.

Ifit is a Mondaythen

The Huguang Guild Hall's museum galleries are closed (the courtyards and stages stay open and the ticket is still sold), the Erchang Memory Museum is closed, the Eling Boardwalk is shut and the Three Gorges Museum is closed. The free yards, the park, the Liziba platform and the Shibati stairs are unaffected — walk the west half on a Monday.

Ifyou are timing the photographsthen

Liziba: before 9:00 or after 17:00 for a clear rail — tour buses arrive from mid-morning — and not in a downpour, since the platform has no roof. Erchang: photographers fill the railings 15:00-19:00, weekday mornings are empty. Kansheng Tower: look at the sky first; fog from November to February turns the view grey. Huguang: weekday mornings, not weekends 10:00-12:00.

Ifyou are here on 1-8 Octoberthen

The district police expect the streets round Liziba, Erchang and Eling Park to jam 8:00-19:00 and keep tour coaches off them; Changbin Road from the guild hall to Chaotianmen and the Dongshuimen Bridge's Nan'an-to-Yuzhong carriageway close to cars 16:00-24:00. Come by metro and walk — on a holiday the crowd, not the cars, is the problem.

Erchang: the 1937 banknote-printing works, reopened in 2017 as an open yard of brick sheds, cafés and rooftops above both rivers. Eling Park next door: the 1909 garden with the seven-storey Kansheng Tower at its tip — one to two hours including the tower · 2025-11-12

Erchang's yard has no gate and is open at any hour, its shops roughly 9:00-22:00; the district lists the Eling scenic area 00:00-24:00, but treat 22:00 as closing for the tower and paths. The Erchang Memory Museum inside the yard is closed on Mondays · 2026-08-21
Booking & passport
None for either. Only the Eling Boardwalk on the cliff below the park is booked — real-name on WeChat, which wants a Chinese ID; passport holders book at the visitor service point · 2025-11-24

Don't get this wrong
Three things share the name: Erchang is the factory yard at No. 1 Eling Main Street, the park is at No. 176, and the booked, Monday-closed Eling Boardwalk is on the cliff below. The film's radio station on the roof was a set · 2026-09-22
The easy half of the peninsula and the better view: free, gate-less, and downhill if you start at the park. Erchang is an influencer yard with the printing history reduced to signboards — come for the rooftop and the walk down to Liziba, not for the shops. The tower is weather-dependent: a clear evening is the best free view in Chongqing, a foggy one is grey.

The station is on floors 6-7 — the '8th floor' in many posts counts the shop podium. And not Fotuguan, one stop on: that is the cherry-blossom 'train to spring', a different photograph · 2026-09-21
The one photograph everyone wants, and it takes two minutes to shoot — the wait for the next train is three to five. The platform alone is not a half day: put it at the bottom of the walk down from Eling.
