The North Bund and Tilanqiao in Half a Day
Link Tilanqiao, the North Bund, the Postal Museum and nearby industrial heritage without backtracking. Museums close while the riverside improves toward dusk, so move from indoor history to the water rather than the reverse.
The short answer
Morning at Tilanqiao, afternoon on the river. Line 12 Tilanqiao Exit 1 → the Jewish Refugees Museum from 9:00, about 90 minutes → about half an hour on foot via the White Horse Café, Zhoushan Road and Huoshan Park (Xiahai Temple is a few minutes north, last entry 14:30) → Line 12 to International Cruise Terminal, Exit 3 → the promenade west to Waibaidu Bridge → the Postal Museum at 395 Tiantong Road before 16:00 → Zhapu Road Bridge at dusk. Coming from the Bund instead: cross Waibaidu Bridge and you are in North Bund.
Both museums are closed - the Jewish Refugees Museum and the Postal Museum close on Mondays, with holiday hours announced separately. The streets, Huoshan Park, the promenade, the bridges and 1933 Old Millfun stay open: on a Monday do the river afternoon only, and keep Tilanqiao for another day.
Only the Jewish Refugees Museum has a ticket: ¥20 (students ¥10, 60 and over ¥15), bought at the on-site desk, where a passport is accepted; the online platforms are optional and may not take a passport number. The Postal Museum is free with no booking. The World Reception Hall on the promenade needs a booked slot and its price is unpublished - without one, walk past.
Two famous buildings here cannot be visited: the former Tilanqiao Prison has no public admission since the May 2024 move (the hours and tickets on AI travel sites are invented), and Broadway Mansions' terrace is a hotel's, not a public deck. The Tilanqiao streets have been entering renewal since July 2026 - expect hoardings.
It is a walk through a concrete building, not an exhibition: no ticket for the park, no exhibits, upper halls usually closed for events, and the official hours disagree (8:30-20:30 or 9:00-22:00). It is on Line 4/10 at Hailun Road, not Line 12 - go by day, and only if structure interests you.

Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum
上海犹太难民纪念馆The reason to come to Tilanqiao, and one of the easiest museums in the city for a foreigner: an English website, posted holiday hours and a ticket desk that takes a passport. Not a quick photo stop - give it the 90 minutes, then walk the streets it describes. For the start of the morning, from 9:00, not on a Monday.

For straight after the museum, late morning.

北外滩滨江The free half of North Bund and the better skyline angle: the towers head-on and the Bund in profile, usually with fewer people than across the creek. For the afternoon, walking west toward Waibaidu Bridge.
