Runs frequently in daytime; check last-boat times in the evening.

Avoid exiting at People's Square interchange by mistake; it is one of the largest and most confusing stations in the city.

Where to stay

First visit: stay along Metro Line 2 or Line 10 between Jing'an Temple and East Nanjing Road — walkable to the Bund, direct trains to both airports. Ask hotels for walking minutes to the nearest metro entrance, not meters.
